In collaboration with the Minnesota Film Festival, AVEFLIGHT rescues this 1939 horror gem in a restored digital copy: genre cinema that frightens on staging and shadow alone, proof that fear comes from craft, not effects.

And there's something more that makes it special: it was shot in 1939, on the very threshold of the Second World War. It was the era of Franklin D. Roosevelt in the White House, of Ecuadorian President Aurelio Mosquera Narváez—dean and rector of the Central University Universidad Central, with Europe entering the conflict and an entire era about to vanish forever. Watching it today is a glimpse into that eve-of-war world, and a measure of how far we have come.
